The three-year Diploma in Environmental Health covers public health that is concerned with all aspects of the natural and built environment that may affect human health. Assistant Environmental Health Officer in the past were trained towards the promotion of public health of the rural population with emphasis on improving basic health needs of the community at large, such as sullage and human waste disposal, disease control and potable water supply. More recently, subjects such as water quality, environmental health issues, urban health, legislation and enforcement of public health laws, behavioral sciences, information technology and health systems research are taught. In addition, assistant environmental health officers are required to be better equipped to handle broader areas of environmental health that includes health promotion and education; communicable disease; prevention, investigation, surveillance and control of communicable diseases; prevention, investigation, surveillance and control of communicable diseases; epidemiology; and food science and technology.



The Diploma in Environmental Health is designed in consultation with a panel of local and international experts, resulting in a highly sought-after curriculum that combines theoretical learning and practical sessions in laboratories and hospitals. Students of the Diploma in Environmental Health gain experience in our rather exhaustive list of panels of hospitals throughout Malaysia. The graduates would be eligible to obtain appointment as Assistant of Environmental Health (AEHO), Site Supervisor, Environmental Officer, Industrial Hygienist & more. Environmental health practitioners are also known as sanitarians, public health inspectors, environmental health specialists or environmental health officers.

Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or its equivalent with a minimum of five (5) credits inclusive of the following:

i. Bahasa Malaysia
ii. Mathematics
or Add Maths
iii. General Science or Biology or Chemistry or Physics or Applied Science
iv. Two (2) credits from any other subjects and
v. Pass in English (preference to those with credit in English)
